I waited...and waited...and waited some more, for this little guy to be born!! Candy was bred Oct 24, 2013. So I started looking for that baby around Oct 15th. By Nov 1st I was pulling my hair out or more like getting grayer by the day!! By the 7th she was officially 2 weeks late....good grief!! Was he ever going to get here?? You see, I was pushing it to breed Candy as late as I did, Oct 24th. Here it was November and getting colder by the day....unusually cold!! Wouldn’t you know we would have a cold Fall this year...by the time he arrived on VA Day, Nov 11th we were down to 25* at night. Good grief, we never have that cold of nights so early in the season!! Get out the heat lamp and pile the hay high in that stall, because it got worse!! After he was born the weather turned again, this time to freezing rain with no sunshine during the day!! Poor little guy did find that heat lamp and he was snug as a bug under it. It’s been 2 weeks now and the arctic winds, rain and ice have finally let up!! One thing I have learned from all this....NEVER breed Candy past Sept 1st!!! But he’s here now and all is well...the weather is back to normal, 40’s at night. I moved them in with the others today, so he could play with his half-sibling Pinkie Glitter!! This is Mojave Red’s second baby for me and he is sooooo sweet!! Cute little head, nice round butt and beautiful long ears!! Candy always throws such “look-at-me” foals. This little guy’s half-sibling, Eola Hills Red Taffeta, won 1st place at her first Show in Red Deer, Alberta, Canada in 2013. I expect no less from him. I’m trying very hard to think of a good Patriotic name for him....any suggestions??
