This little girl finally presented
herself on one of the hottest days we were having here in Oregon....103*!!! Our friends
were here visiting for the week and we had all been taking turns going to the barn ''checking''
to see if Belles' baby was here. Heck, the night before we decided to set up the cardtable
at the barn and play our cards (hand & foot) down there, hoping the whole time that
we would get to see a birthing!! Everybody knows how that turned out....LOL!!! Us girls
whooped the guys at cards but we didn't see any birthing!! The next afternoon when everybody
was out and nobody was watching, Belles had her baby. This was her first foal and I guess
she decided she didn't want anyone around!!! Both momma & baby are doing great. Belles
did a fine job all on her own and we are very proud of her!!! My friend, who has never seen
a baby donkey, kept saying she was a ''Precious little Princess''......so we named her "Starla.'' |
