Pennington is a truly nice little jack. He is all that I hoped he would be. His temperament is very loving & sweet and he always comes running when I call his name because he knows it's time for scratches and sometimes a carrot if he's really good!! I have always had Pennington in his own stall/pasture beside the girls...he likes his own 'space' and keeps it very clean, but he likes to be around the herd and be included, too. Pennington's foals have all been really nice and colorful. He has spots on his maternal side, and can throw dark spots when bred to spotted jennets (see Jolie' on the sale page). But those solid black's are stunning: Cole-Porter Black and Little Black Bentley, both are very eye-catching. But one of my favorites is Grayson, a gorgeous blue/gray boy. Pennington is a very versatile guy!!

If Slippers was our "princess"
then Twilla is our "QUEEN." Miss Twilla was a show girl the first 3 years
of her life and was the Grand Champion Jennet many many times in her career! She hasn't
lost her touch. She can still strut her stuff and she does every day around
the paddock. She lets ALL the girls know she is the "Queen Bee" around here
and they better not forget it!

I really don't want to put Candy on my sale page. She is one of my favorites, but my friend pointed out that since I don't have a red jack to breed her to, keeping her is a waste. And after seeing her gorgeous foal, Red Taffeta, I have to agree. But it's hard...so if you don't want to buy her, that's ok, LOL!! If you have a red jack and you want those perfect red foals, consider purchasing Candy.

I waited...and waited...and waited some more, for this little guy to be born!! Candy was bred Oct 24, 2013. So I started looking for that baby around Oct 15th. By Nov 1st I was pulling my hair out or more like getting grayer by the day!! By the 7th she was officially 2 weeks late....good grief!! Was he ever going to get here?? You see, I was pushing it to breed Candy as late as I did, Oct 24th. Here it was November and getting colder by the day....unusually cold!! Wouldn’t you know we would have a cold Fall this year...by the time he arrived on VA Day, Nov 11th we were down to 25* at night. Good grief, we never have that cold of nights so early in the season!! Get out the heat lamp and pile the hay high in that stall, because it got worse!! After he was born the weather turned again, this time to freezing rain with no sunshine during the day!! Poor little guy did find that heat lamp and he was snug as a bug under it. It’s been 2 weeks now and the arctic winds, rain and ice have finally let up!! One thing I have learned from all this....NEVER breed Candy past Sept 1st!!! But he’s here now and all is well...the weather is back to normal, 40’s at night. I moved them in with the others today, so he could play with his half-sibling Pinkie Glitter!! This is Mojave Red’s second baby for me and he is sooooo sweet!! Cute little head, nice round butt and beautiful long ears!! Candy always throws such “look-at-me” foals. This little guy’s half-sibling, Eola Hills Red Taffeta, won 1st place at her first Show in Red Deer, Alberta, Canada in 2013. I expect no less from him. I’m trying very hard to think of a good Patriotic name for him....any suggestions?? |

Merry Christmas Malia Lockrem!! |
